Tapestry: 560mm x 780mm
Wool yarn on cotton warp
Price: £2,995

Between 1913 and 1914, Marcel Duchamp created 3 Standard Stoppages by dropping one-metre threads onto a horizontal plane and sticking them where they landed. 3 Random Stoppages: A study in blue, purple and green? joins in with Duchamp’s ‘joke about a metre’ and randomly places three meandering primary colours of red, yellow and blue onto a black background tinged with blue, violet and green stratum.

Woven on a cotton warp in merino 4 ply wool and additional coloured 2 ply weft interspersed with coloured snakes of traditional Scandinavian flossa style (rya) knotted wool.  3 Random Stoppages: A study in blue, purple and green? is hung on two wooden battens.
