Based on X-rays of the artist’s femur, NHS vs Sport explores the relationship between the NHS and a sportsperson’s desire to return to full fitness following serious injury. Following events in 2021 and designed and created early in 2022, NHS vs Sport depicts the before, during and aftereffects of a broken femur bone.
NHS vs Sport is comprised of a dozen different coloured, hand-cut, mouth-blown pieces of Polish glass, some copper foiled and soldered together, and held in place by 3/16 inch lead came. The panel is retained with a hand-painted permanent pine frame and suspended on a detachable zinc chain.
